Woah, a stick? NP

No, but your wallet can. Just in time for turbos!

As you may know, my previous car was a 2.7t A6. The turbos were fine, if I kept that car I’d have upgraded them.
That car made me fall in love with the 2.7t even more though. I’ve owned a B5 A4 and a C5 A6 2.7t and the looks of the B5 with the performance of the 2.7t would be perfect for me.

If one of those service records is a recent timing belt, NP.

Ugh, they used to be so cheap but now even 200K miles cars are going for £5000. If I wanted a twin turbo six cylinder Saloon car, it would be cheaper to fly to Japan, buy a Chaser and ship it back. Damn you B5 S4! Why are you immune to Great British used market depreciation.

Yup, it would be about time for a second timing belt change if the PO kept up with maintenance.
So far, my A6 is still my favorite car I’ve ever owned. If I had an Allroad, or S4 I’m sure that would win me over even more haha. I miss the torque so much.

Future classics I’d say.

Clearly it’s time to bring this ship into the shore...

I do recall that, and I do like them myself. But with almost 140k it’s a big elephant in the room, same with the clutch if it’s not been done, despite being “solid”. The pressure plate is self adjusting and can only go so far. The 2.7t is a really solid engine in and of itself, it’s just that access sucks and everything on and around it is expensive.

And go driving the S4.... forever (or you know, at least until something major breaks).
How could you pass it up? It looks like a real Speedwagon.

That’s exactly why I sold my A6.
I don’t have a garage to work on it, the clutch was bad and I didn’t feel like dumping money into it at the time. I also bought the A6 as a bit of an experiment and I loved every second of it until it started costing too much.
I’d do it again though. I’ve always wanted to build a B5 S4.....

Didn’t know you could put “only” and “132,340 miles” in the same sentence to create positive feature about a car.
For an aircraft (converted in hours), maybe...

My allroad is still the best car I’ve ever owned. It was just great at everything. Plus it was a turbocharged AWD wagon with a six speed. You can't beat that.

They really are truly awesome cars.
AWD, manual, twin turbo, adjustable air suspension, heated front and rear seats, solar sunroof and tons other countless great features.
They really did a great job with the AR. Like, even the roofs were matte on some of them to prevent roof racks and such from scratching the paint.

Hell no, man. Just stomach another year of JETTA SPORT and dump it for an A7!

Well, I can’t DD an old S4 :)

Ahhh so you are entertaining the idea of multi-vehicle ownership?

I find myself lusting after UrS4's and UrS6 Avants the most.
And RS2's. Only three more years until those are importable..

Do it! The 16 year old B5 puts a smile on my face every time I drive it. There is nothing like that car. Bonus for the six speed.
